On Sunday March 15th, 8.00 pm I will conquer on a journey through time and space, equipped only with my bass clarinet and my baritone saxophone at the Babylon Cinema in Berlin, playing some live film music with the Babylon Film Orchestra to the German cult classic from the 60s:
Raumpatrouille Orion.
On the 60th anniversary of RAUMPATROUILLE – Die phantastischen Abenteuer des Raumschiffes Orion (The Fantastic Adventures of the Spaceship Orion), the cult series is experiencing a spectacular rebirth: the 2003 feature film version was the first German sound film to be completely live-synchronized with music. The legendary original music – newly arranged for big band – can be heard live in concert.
Jazz-inspired galactic soundscapes, the iconic “Peter Thomas sound” of the 1960s, and modern pop, lounge, and electro beats come together to create a unique film concert experience. This is made possible by a complex technical process in which music, dialogue, and sound effects were separated so that the musicians can interpret the film music live to accompany the images.
It is nearly sold out, but there are still some tickets available: Tickets
